Stepmom who killed disabled girl enters drug plea (AP)

CHARLOTTE, N.C. ? The North Carolina woman sentenced to prison for killing her 10-year-old disabled stepdaughter has also pleaded guilty to a federal drug charge.

Elisa Baker entered the plea Thursday in U.S. District Court in Charlotte to a count of conspiracy to sell drugs and prosecutors agreed to drop six other charges.

No sentencing date has been set. She faces up to 20 years in prison.

Prosecutors say between 2006 and 2010, Baker helped distribute more than 50,000 painkillers and anti-anxiety pills.

She previously was sentenced to up to 18 years in prison for the death of her disabled stepdaughter, Zahra Baker.

Also Thursday, the father of Zahra Baker was convicted of misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon and was sentenced to 30 days in jail. Adam Baker's attorney plans to appeal.
